Bats or not

We kept hearing sounds from the fireplace downstairs. I was convinced that we had bats living in the fireplace, and from the sound of it I was not going to be surprised if there were at least 100. So Brent, Blake and Shawn decided to wait until dark (because that is when bats come out to fly) they were going to see. Blake took a newspaper rolled up like a lantern lite it on fire and tossed it up the fireplace and closed the damper.
Shawn heading out the door to see if he could see any bats.

Brent and Shawn then would shoot anything that flew out of the chimney.
After Brent shot two so called bats, they soon find out that what was living in our fireplace was Starling birds.
Since then I think the birds decided that it was not a fun place to be, we have not heard the chirping again.
Yea! I was not that excited with the thought that we had bats living in our fireplace.

Tennis anyone

This post is going to show pictures of the sculptures around the office.
In a couple of years the people will fill out and really look good. In this picture we see a tennis game being played. This picture is the spectators cheering on the game.

This picture was taken just south of the tennis game, it is a play ground.
This picture is taken behind the office, where people park.

Quite often people stop by the side of the road to take pictures. I am going to be anxious for next year's pictures to see how much they will fill in a years time. I just thought it would be fun to show this sculptures.

Berries

The first of July Carissa, Amy and I went and picked Raspberies, we then made them into jams and froze same. Eariler we bought strawberies and made jam.
This is Carissa in the fields picking.
This is Amy, Carissa and Savannah weighting their raspberies. We still need to get some blueberies and marionberries.
I love picking berries and making jam.

Congratulations Savannah,

May 2, 2009 Savannah graduated from Utah State, Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutrition & Food Sciences. We were all happy to be there with Blake and Savannah. Brent, Jared, Amy, Carissa and I were there along with her whole family.

Oops I forgot to turn this picture, it is Savannah standing in line waiting for the Ceremony to start.
That same day we started for home, Blake and Savannah, all their belongings packed up, Brent and I, we stopped in Boise for the night and then drove home the next day.

Oxi-clean

At our 4th of July party Ron (a good friend of ours) took Jared on a sand buggie ride around the farm. Before Jared's accident Ron and Jared use to drive thur the cow pasture in their jeeps getting very muddy and often stuck. This picture: Jared getting seat belted in before the ride. This picture: Jared and Ron stuck and waiting for Blake to pull them out with the tractor

Jared loving every minute.

The clothes Jared had on were very muddy as you can see. Amy soaked his clothes in Oxi-clean for two days and then washed them in the washing machine and you could never tell how muddy they once were. I am now sold on Oxi-clean.

Prom

In April Kyle had his Church Prom. Four of his friends and Kyle and their dates started out at our house riding the gators and playing commando, (Kind of hide-and-seek on gators). After they all got ready for the prom Kyle drove them to dinner in the school bus we have on the farm to dinner at Brighton's.

Kyle's date.

Kyle and his friends.

Kyle had a lot of fun.

Stake Conference

April 25-26, 2009, for our Stake Conference we had two guests, Elder Russell M. Nelson and newly called Elder Michael T. Ringwood. They stayed at our house. Brock and Shawn were both able to come for the week-end. This picture: Kyle, Shawn, Elder Nelson, Brock, Elder Ringwood, Brent. It was an awesome week-end. To be able to have two General Authorities in our home was incredible. They both were so inspiring to watch and witness how kind they treat others.
We got to have Sunday Dinner with them before they flew back to Utah. We got home from conference and only had about 25 minutes to have the dinner on the table, so, Brock barbecued the Salmon, Shawn cut up melons and made the salad, Kyle helped make the garlic cream sauce to go over the Salmon, I roasted the filberts, we all helped with the dinner, it was so good. Then Kyle made his chocolate chip cookies that everybody loves. Both Elder Nelson and Ringwood took some of the cookies with then. (Which pleased Kyle).

Kyle's Eagle Court of Honor

In March Kyle received his Eagle. He had earned it over a year earlier, he decided to wait to have his court of honor to have it with his friends. Kyle, Clint and Rylin all received their Eagles that night.

The pictures are: Kyle with both set of Grandparents, Kyle with his Dad, the three mom's of the boys, with me in the middle, the neckerchiefs that the boys received. It was a special night. We now have all of our boys with their Eagles. Kyle's project was installing a scoreboard and two goal posts ( they work both for football and soccer) at North Marion Middle School. It turned out to be a very big project. Kyle, Brent and Uncle Mark were a huge part of the project. Kyle was proud of the project, it really has helped make a difference for the Middle School to be to play games at the school.

Stake Youth Pioneer Trek 2009

Our Youth Stake Pioneer Trek, Brent, Kyle, Blake, Savannah and I all went on this last week. It was awesome. This picture is Brent pushing in the blue shirt and Kyle pushing behind him. I was pushing in the back. Now if any of you do not know, sleeping in a tent is not one of Brent's favorite thing to do, or even a top 100 thing to do, but Brent went on the trek and never complained. He did a great job. I was so excited to be on the trek with so much of my family. This picture is Cousin Davis, Blake, Savannah, Cousin Brighton and Kyle.

The trek was for four days, in South-Eastern Washington. The temperature was as high as 97* and no shade. And I loved it. This picture is Blake and Savannah as Ma and Pa to their handcart family.

One of Brent's job on the trek was to ride the horse to help out. Brent grew up with his own horse so it was very natural for Brent to ride. I think Brent enjoyed riding again. I have never rode a horse before, except a pony that ran away with me, until the trek, I got to ride the horse, it was fun. A bit scary though.

Kyle with his cousin.

When we all got home Jared, Amy, Carissa and Shawn were at our house. We were all so excited.
As we were driving home from the trek Carissa told us that Grandma's brother, Alan (Pinky) had passed away, and the next morning Grandma and Linda were flying to Missouri to the funeral. I am sorry for his family's sadness.
